Midfielder/Defender Kristi Abbate

Teen sensation Kristi Abbate of Northport played for the Fury during the past three years. Just like last year, Abbate will be playing against opponents a decade older and much more experienced in her role in the Fury midfield and defense.

"In my view, the best player in the country in her age group," commented Long Island Fury Director of Football Paul Riley. "Amazing balance, superb ability to beat players, and an insatiable appetite for the game. Very quick, silky skills and brilliant of the ball. In her early teens, she is good enough to play in this league. She is a star in the making."

Abbate also plays for the Albertson Fury '93 of the Long Island Junior Soccer League, the Eastern New York Olympic Development Program team, the Regional team and the Under-15 National Team. She is an honors student at Northport High School, where she is Vice President of the Freshman Class. Besides soccer, leisure time includes playing the guitar and piano.

The sky appears to be the limit for Abbate, whose best moment on a soccer field "came playing for the U.S. National Team against Stanford." She states that her "dream is to play in the 2010 Under-17 World Cup, for a top college program and eventually with the U.S. Women's National Team."
